Potassium citrate supplement is recommended for the treatment or prevention of hypokalemia (potassium depletion) which does not result from dietary deficiency and to help reduce kidney stone formation. K-Citra� is the potassium citrate supplement of choice due to its high tolerability and low stomach discomfort.
Ingredients
Medicinal Ingredients: Each 5mL (1 tsp): Potassium Citrate 1080mg (Provides 10 mEq (390) of elemental potassium). Non-Medicinal Ingredients: Acesulfame-K, Citric Acid, FD&C Red No.3, French Vanilla Flavour, Mixed Berry Flavour, Strawberry Flavour, Glyceine, Methyl Paraben, Potassium Sorbate, Propyl Paraben, Purified Water, Sucralose.
Dosage
Prevention: 10-20 mL (20-40 mEq) daily in 2 to 4 divided doses. Treatment: 20-50 mL (40-100 MEq) daily in 2 to 4 divided doses. Dilute in at least 250mL cold water or juice in 2 to 4 divided doses after meals or with food to lessen possible stomach upset. Do not take on an empty stomach.
Cautions and Warnings
To be taken only on the advice of a physician and only when adequate dietary supplementation is not practical. Discontinue if abdominal pain, distention, nausea, vomiting or gastrointestinal bleeding occur. Consult your healthcare provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition, or when taking medication.
